summer is....

the best!!
I have to admit, I'm not normally a huge fan of summer. I don't like being hot, sweating, having sun in my eyes, putting sunscreen/bug repellent/hats on me or my kids, wearing shorts or mowing my lawn. I miss my hot coffee drinks, my jeans, heated car seats, playing outdoors without being attacked by bees.

However, at least for the last few weeks, summer's been so much fun!

1. Best day of summer so far has kind of been the simplest! We met Auntie Miss, Uncle Jon (or Jean as Ollie prefers to call him) and the cousins at their swim club, brought in two pizza pies and just swam. And played. And ate. And practiced our jumps into the pool. And played on the swingset. It was just. So. Relaxing. And I truly do not feel that way often.

Ollie and Ruby, swinging

big girl is SUCH a good swimmer now (of course shoes must remain on)

2. Best day of Summer, number 2:
Sesame Place. Yes, it's e x h a u s t i n g to go. I have to pack four bags and a full dinner for us all (otherwise we pay $7.00 per hot dog. Literally). I have to have wet clothes, dry clothes, pajamas, sunscreen (see above), hats. But it is a BLAST! We've gone a few times this summer: once with the four of us, once with cousins, and this last time with the Boulwares, our sweet friends with the best little boys, Eli and Ezra. Everytime we go, I seem to laugh harder.
We've watched Violet go from being terrified of all costumed to people to yelling hello to every Muppet we see. We've watched Oliver go from timid to riding the super-big water slide (with daddy).

3. Favorite part of ALL summer days:
Getting in the car- usually at dusk, sometimes later. Two little sleepy bodies, cloaked in pjs, wet-headed from swimming or baths, trunk filled with sandy clothes, wet towels, juice cups. Piling in to our small car, blasting the a/c. The sweet ones in the back seat (usually) fall asleep, and Ben and I can talk quietly, laughing about the day, driving slowly. LOVE it.

Grammy and the loves
