days in the life

Oliver and a buddy: keystone cops!?
Ollie in the toys' tub! Fun.
Finally! A use for Mama's retired string bikini. A saddle, of course!
A face Violet made with play-dough. Seriously exciting. She said "eyes", and put them on; "mouth", and put it on; and "ear" and put that on. LOVE when she does amazing things out of the blue.

This is what happens, sometimes, on a rainy afternoon, on a limited budget, with two very energetic kids. Sometimes, you just go to Walmart and try out the scooters. Sometimes you just try out all of the fishing gear. Sometimes you go and choose which fabrics you'd like your superhero capes made out of.

we were lucky enough to get chosen to be part of the Littlest Heroes project! a photographer came to our house on a rainy day and took some great amazing pictures of our sweet twins.

we went to Sesame Place! Here's Ollie and Daddy on the water slide! so brave....

sweet girl had such a great day! she LOVES snuggling with her cousin Ava.
and what's a fun summer without some new friends? here our are new golfin friends. Finally taking up residence in our home after being discounted to $2.99 each.

a small bite of heaven

I know, I know it's completely petty and superficial. I know we have very big, lofty goals for our girl. But, even with me not being the girliest of girls, I've always thought painted baby toes were adorable. Lately I've heard about some of my friends taking their daughters to get their first manicures, and always felt a small pang knowing that, really, Violet would sooner scale the wall of the nail salon than sit still and have someone hold her fingers for a long period of time. But, I figured it was just not something we could do together, and that was ok- we have a LOT of special bonding moments and activities between us.

But today she noticed my toenail polish.

And while my girl is not into beauty or hygiene or holding still for any reason other than sleep, she likes art. Especially painting and brushes and color. Especially on herself.

See where we're going with this?

Violet wanted her toes to be red like mama's. And I painted as quickly as possible and we blew on them together (kind of like a birthday wish, right?), and she held still and watched me and *almost* grinned.

Heaven!
