I *adore* these two photos below. Not only because my beautiful girl is playing in the water (one of her constant faves), but because in the background are our new friends, Deanna and her daughter Mia. You'll probably notice that Mia's nude..hopefully far enough away that I'm still being polite in posting it. Mia is also Autistic, and Deanna is one of the more sane, honest, cool, caring and smart SuperMommies I've met. Mia's 3rd birthday is only two weeks before Violet, so it's great to watch our girls together. As always with Autism, no two cases are alike, and that's definitely the way with Mia and Violet- this photo is the perfect example. Both girls were into playing with the water- awesome. However, Violet, as usual, insisted on keeping every item of wet clothing ON; wet diaper, shoes, everything. She would nap in it all if I allowed it. Mia, the moment water touched any of her clothing, needed it all off. ALL. Completely hilarious. And lucky for us, Oliver is immune to all- doesn't notice anybody's clothes coming off, staying on, just happy to have friends over.
We have a sandbox! I have taken one more huge leap away from...domesticity? femininity? outdoorswoman? Well, whatever- I have officially turned our vegetable garden (um, rather, the previous owner's vegetable garden, which grew up precisely one fat pumpkin since we've moved in) into a sandbox. I'm very pleased with myself, and the twins love it. It's one of the few things that they equally adore without stepping on each other to play with. LOVE it. Summer, bring it on!
