#358 on the list...

of things I wasn't prepared for in motherhood: tantrums at 11 months!?!?!
Yes, it's true. It's Oliver. Suddenly, he is pitching a huge, back-arching, leg-kicking, screaming and sobbing fit over not getting to do whatever he'd like to do at that moment. I still laugh when it happens, because it's so out of the blue, and over the most ridiculous things. Mainly, me not letting him play inside the refrigerator, not letting him climb into the dishwasher, and, most recently, trying to change his diaper. I've actually learned how to change him upside-down, as he's crawling away from me. I've gone out and bought "The Happiest Toddler on the Block", so we'll see if that helps. It's not encouraging when Ben just watches a fit and says "Ooh...that's just how I was...". Can't fight genetics!
Violet, meanwhile, mostly ignores the antics. So far. It's interesting too, the differences in their personalities when they play together. Whatever one has, the other wants. Even if I buy two of a particular toy, there is something about watching a toy being played with by one's sibling that must make it more enticing. Anyhow- If Violet takes the toy from Oliver, he looks up at the heavens and sobs, big crocodile tears. If Oliver takes it from Violet, she really doesn't notice. Again, I have a feeling this will soon change, but for now I just try to keep things fair for everyone.
We had a really nice 1st Father's Day for Ben! We saw our good friends this morning and then took a long walk this afternoon, using our front pack (for V) and back pack (for O) and both babies wearing their new super-cool SPF hats (thanks, Uncle Phil!). Photos will come soon, but for now:

Oliver's new musical obsession. It's actually even cuter in person than in the photo, because he's so delicate with the keys!

"We're ready to get up, Mom!" "Well, maybe just a nibble or two more on the guard rail first..."{Have I mentioned the crib rails literally look they've been attacked by a beaver? Does this mean my children are ingesting wood?}

Just a quick spin around the living room! Grammy driving, Ollie loving a free ride to anywhere, and Violet NOT having it! {and how awesome is Ollie's TANK TOP?!}
