I thought I should catch up a bit on here since I haven't written anything substantial in a long time.
Last week, we took the babies out for lunch. Our second attempt at using restaurant high chairs, this time with only Ben and I. We went to the good ol' Cracker Barrel, known for a "rustic" setting. Unfortunately, the high chair were REALLY rustic, meaning they were basically just little chairs, and our special anti-bacterial plastic coverings didn't work with them. Poor little Button kept slipping down, since there wasn't even the bar between the legs to keep her in the seat! She thought that was hilarious, and mommy kept having to pull her back up in the seat in between bites of pecan pancakes....Both babies did really well though, until we attempted to have them try some southern cuisine. I mean, grits are practically rice cereal, right? Sweet Oliver promptly vomited them up all over the table. Ugh. Needless to say, the Sheaffers are very good tippers when we go out to eat.
We had our friends from NYC in to visit, Jan and Lenora. We all had a great time, but the first night they were here, Violet had a tough time sleeping. I don't know if I've written on here what an amazing sleeper she has become. LOVES her crib, sleeps 11-12 hours a night- it's wonderful! So, her waking up that night was really strange. I got up with her, fed her a little, rocked her a little. Held her up to me, and she puked. Everywhere. I can truly say that I had never had another person's vomit in my mouth until that point. I think we were both so stunned, I just kept holding her up, and we stared at each other for what seemed like a very long time. I couldn't even reassure her, since that would mean opening my mouth. Finally I snapped to, quickly wiped my face on my one clean sleeve, and Violet and I stripped down and took a warm bath together. Yikes.
The babies are growing SO quickly! Crawling like crazy now, and into everything. I can't imagine when they begin walking! How will I do it? I know they will be busy, busy babies.
On an adult note: Ben has his exam for licensing for his new job tomorrow. Any and all good thoughts around 3pm would be most appreciated! Thanks.
