Violet told me her first joke today. She made it up, and I'm not entirely convinced she meant it to be a joke, but it made me laugh. And she told it at 5:10am, snuggled up to me in my dark bedroom, while I was (am) nursing a nasty sinus infection and on day 12 of daddy being out of town; so making me laugh was a true feat.

Violet: Mama- you want to tell a story?
Me: Sure.
V: Once upon time, was girl name Violet. She was sittin' in chair. Then was big thunder and lightning.

pause

Me: Was she okay?
V: Yes! Was Thunder the horse! And Lightning the car!

Genius. Thunder is the name of one of Violet's favorite horses of all time (again, not an easy feat considering the horses in her life) from an obscure episode of Strawberry Shortcake and Lightning McQueen is the race car from the movie Cars.

Seriously great way to start the day.

sometimes when daddies are out of town, mommies let you pull all the cushions off of the couch and crawl under the covers for a breakfast picnic!
