pillow talk

conversation tonight with Ollie, pre-bedtime. I'm putting neosporin on Ollie's cheeks.

me: Oh, Ol, I'm so sorry about that Violet scratched up your face tonight.

O: Yeah. Mommy, why sissy get so angry?

me: Well, sweetie, I think she gets frustrated when she can't say what she's feeling, so she uses her hands instead of her words.

O: That autism, Mommy?

me: Yep, bud. A lot of that is sissy's autism.

O: Why sissy get autism?

me: Well, honey....everyone is made a little different, and has special things that make them who they are. This is something special about Violet.

O: What autism?

me: Um....autism is something that makes Violet brain work a little differently than yours. Sometimes she has trouble with her words or her feelings.

O: Why sissy has autism and I not has autism?

me: I don't know, bud.

Seriously. I'll take a birds-and-bees talk any day over this.

school performance- Ollie in the tie (YES, a tie!) and Vi in the flower dress right next to him.
More on this in an upcoming post.
