chats

Yesterday, I had a conversation with Violet. A real, non-echolalic, unprompted DIALOGUE.

Here's how it went:

"Violet, how was school?"
"School?"
"Did you have fun?"
"Fun?"
"Y........"
"YES!"
"Did you read any books?"
beat. beat. beat. beat.
"Ah....Baby Raccoons!"

Hmmmm.....I immediately called Kristen, our amazing ABA therapists who shadows Violet at school and asked her if there was any chance that Violet had read or talked about baby raccoons during school that day.

They read "The Kissing Hand" during storytime- all about baby raccoons and their mommies!!!

Amazing. I asked my girl a question. She understood me. She thought about what I said. She ANSWERED me.
Life is good.
