We had no plans to do this; rather, we never thought we'd get two content babies to sit on Santa's lap, but here it is! Most weekends in the Sheaffer household, we take a few hours and walk in the park or up and down Main Street in Manayunk , while the babies sleep and Mommy and Daddy remember how to have adult conversations. As the weather was finally too cold for that last weekend, we headed to the mall for the first time! For better or worse, the babies loved it. SO much to look at, and so many admirers! Anyhow, at one point we found ourselves with two freshly-woken-up babies, standing next to Santa's hut, with no line (possibly because it was the middle of November....). So, we went for it! Santa confidently double-armed it, and both babies posed happily. Of course, as soon as we see the finished product, we talk ourselves right into buying a set of photos. $20 for two photos isn't bad, is it?
After this, we were brave enough to try our first restaurant visit with the babies. We went to the Cheesecake Factory, and both babies were WONDERFUL!! Not only content, but smiling at every busboy and waiter that passed by. Could we beam any more with pride?
As always, though, one step forward, two steps back. Both babies loathed Thanksgiving. We went to my mom's, about 45 minutes away, and really (thought we had) planned it well. Both had had great nights' sleeps, good morning naps, and were decked out in their fall best. Needless to say, O and V cried from the moment we put their car seats down on Grammy's floor....yikes. Mom and Dad wolfed down plates of food that someone else had prepared for them, with babies rocking on their bodies throughout, and headed back home soon after. I guess our twins are not the celebratory types. It will be a quiet Christmas in our house!
